support

As a successful business, our goal is to give back to our community. Since our inception in 2021, VGC has been involved in supporting worthy institutions and initiatives that care for and nurture children and families from low income communities. The institutions that we support are small and local community focused projects that provide either education or welfare services to families in need. As we grow, we look forward to also growing our involvement with community outreach.

Poveda Foundation

The Poveda Foundation was formed in 2009 with a mission to impact the education of children from low income communities. As the Poveda team explains, “the disparity in the opportunities that the lesser privileged have access to is alarming. What is worse is the inequity in the education system and the absence of pedagogy, attitude, and diligence in many classrooms.”

Poveda believes that every child has the right to a good education. Good education:

Poveda’s vision is a community where children empowered with intelligence and character become responsible citizens of the world.

Over the past 15 years, Poveda has initiated, managed, and maintained many educational projects, which have benefited numerous children. These projects have included After School Learning Centres, Kindergarten, Alumni Programs, Computer Classes, Teacher Development Projects, and Student Development Programs in Schools. Since mid-2023, VGC has been providing financial support for Poveda’s kindergarten project.

Welfare Programs

Local, community-based outreach initiatives often do not have a brand presence and are not always run as named entities. They typically start off as small, well-intentioned initiatives that slowly grow in scale and achieve longevity through charitable contributions and community involvement. Since 2021, VGC has had the privilege of being one of the many supporters of a community outreach program run by the St. Anthony’s High School in Pune.

St. Anthony’s High School caters to an underprivileged section of society. Students come from homes that are often struggling to make ends meet. But their parents believe in the power of a good education to give their children a chance at a better future.

A simple and effective way to help those who are struggling the most is to ensure they have enough healthy food options so students get three meals a day, and don’t go to school on an empty stomach. The school staff has taken an interest in identifying those students whose families are struggling the most. Many are single parent households, some are afflicted by sickness, and all are working at lower paying jobs while trying to support their families. They work as rickshaw drivers, house maids, cooks, mechanics, etc.

VGC has partnered with St. Anthony’s High School to support 40 families through monthly food packages. These packages include essential groceries that these families need on a monthly basis. VGC is happy to have the chance to contribute to a small effort that makes a big difference!
